Notice anything different in the design of the website lately? Like maybe today? I keep on hearing about how WordPress is thinking of removing them from Core and possibly placing them in a plugin. PLEASE don’t do that! For a long time I was thinking of adding them to my posts on one of my websites, but never got around to it. Then a couple of things happened. I started working with the Genesis Framework and specifically the Sample Theme, and I find the direction in which they are going with Accessibility, i.e., making Genesis themes more intuitive for site visitors, makes using post formats very attractive. I will work on making the post formats even more intuitive in relation to the content within the post, but I hope that you find them somewhat helpful even in their present state as you navigate the site. I would totally be down with their changing the name to content type rather than post type, but don’t get rid of the concept altogether! We all have enough plugins we have to deal with as it is, so please keep it in Core.
