I had the strangest thing happen to me yesterday. I was at a “Cracking The Coding Interview” gathering with some friends, old and new, and the temple tip of the right temple of my eye glasses fell off. I was on borrowed time with that one. I knew I had to glue it back on or something, but just never got around to it. Then it just fell off at wichcraft on 20th, and seemed to disappear forever. We left there and moved on over to Prêt à Manger on 23rd off of 5th Avenue, and hung out there for over an hour. Then I walked home.
I had dinner. My Mom came home and we talked for a while. I continued my written articulations of my solutions to algorithms. I went to the bathroom to get ready for bed. I threw off my shirt. I unhooked my bra and threw it on the bathroom floor. As I did that, a small black piece of plastic flew out of my bra onto the bathroom floor. I screamed with delight! That little piece of temple tip stayed with me all afternoon and into late night. Thank God for push up bras and bra cleavage!
I was so relieved. I am so convinced someone was watching over me. I am so convinced someone still is. If I had had to replace that pair of glasses, or even just the frame (but only if I found the exact same frame), it would have been a small fortune. Not one which I could really afford, but for which I would HAVE to bite the bullet. I can’t do without them, because I can’t see well without them!
Yes. Miracles do happen. Yes. There is such a thing as a guardian angel.
