Like so many others, the medical center I am a patient at and where I go to see my doctors uses mychart.
Importing appointments from mychart into the iPhone Calendar app
I have never had a problem adding a doctor's appointment to my iPhone's Calendar app. Adding an appointment to the iPhone Calendar app is just a click away!
When I go into mychart and click on "Add to Calendar" inside an appointment, it immediately adds the appointment to my iPhone's Calendar app. I also make sure to click on "Include Details" so that all the information I need related to the appointment is also included in the Calendar app.

However, adding an appointment to the macOS desktop/laptop is not as intuitive.
Before I knew how to correctly import appointments, I did the following:
- First, I downloaded the appointment .ics file onto my Macbook Pro. It saved to my ~/Downloards directory as a .ics file.
- Second, I dragged the .ics file onto my desktop.
- Third, I dragged the .ics file into my Calendar app within the correct date of the appointment.
- Fourth, I had to change the time zone. It always defaulted to GMT, which meant that I had to manually change it to ET.
After a while, this became really annoying! So I did a Google AI Search and came up with the below solution.
Importing appointments from mychart into the macOS Calendar app the right way
I only found out the other day how I can quickly add a doctor's appointment to the Calendar app on my Macbook Pro.
First, as before, I have to click on "Add to Calendar" inside the appointment I want to add. And when prompted, I make sure to click on "Include Details" as well.
When I click on "Add to Calendar", it downloads to the Downloads directory as a .ics file. And in order to import this appointment to the Calendar app, all I have to do is double click on it. This opens the Calendar app, and the appointment is automatically imported into the correct date and time.
